13th March 2018Blue Islands gives Youth Commission children a half-term treat to remember
Local airline Blue Islands teamed up with the Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney’s Bounce Group to provide a fun-packed day-trip to Jersey for 10 children aged between nine and 13.
After taking the first flight to Jersey, the children visited Jersey Zoo before heading to lunch at Tamba Park and spending the afternoon enjoying everything it has to offer, before flying back to Guernsey.
Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO, said the airline was proud to partner with such a hard working charity which made a significant impact on the lives of who it worked with.
“The Youth Commission perform phenomenal work across the Bailiwick improving the lives of many in the community. As a Channel Islands airline, Blue Islands is delighted to provide an extra special treat for the Bounce Group which the children will remember for years to come.
“We are extremely grateful for the support from Jersey Zoo, Tamba Park and Tantivy Coaches to help create this unforgettable experience for such a deserving group.”
The children attend the Youth Commission’s Bounce group to help manage their emotions, build communication skills and develop team work. The Youth Commission said it was thrilled to be able to take the group to Jersey for the day thanks to Blue Islands’ generosity. Dave Haimes, Bounce Group Leader said “the children were so excited to find out they were going to Jersey and couldn’t believe Blue Islands were providing this half term treat!”
Charlie Cox, Youth Commission Service Manager said: “Without the generosity of partners like Blue Islands, some of the children would never be able to experience a day like this over their half term. The boys work so hard on developing themselves over the programme that to be able to reward them with a fun day out is brilliant”.
