Alderney Fly-In Event
30th June 2015The third Alderney Fly-In event took place on the 26th-28th June and was a storming success; with a total of 45 aircraft attending.
Attendees were invited to a reception party on the Friday night, in the Rose and Crown, followed by a BBQ supper and marvellous music of virtuoso Spanish and Flamenco guitarist Jorge Llopis.
On Saturday morning; the pilots were encouraged to try out the famous Alderney Race circuit or visit the Air Traffic Control Tower, with the public being able to view the visiting aircraft. In the evening, there was a Gala/Prize Giving Dinner and music in the Georgian House restaurant, followed by a Jazz performance from the Mad Scatters and Blues/Rock from the Dave Hanson band. Prizes were presented by Miss Alderney (Ruby Walker) and these included 'furthest distance flown', 'Oldest Aircraft', 'Youngest Pilot' amongst many others.
Throughout the weekend the Alderney Wildlife Trust provided fantastic boat and walking tours around the island, which were enjoyed by all.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and kindly contributed; we are looking forward to the 2016 Alderney Fly-In Event already.
