Aurigny flies high in the annual Which? Airline Survey
8th January 2016Aurigny has made a positive start to 2016 by coming second equal in the annual Which? magazine best short haul/economy airline survey.
This means that Aurigny is by far the most highly rated British airline in its class, easily beating British Airways, EasyJet and Flybe, who ranked 6th, 12th and 15th respectively. Aurigny’s top five rating means that for the third consecutive year, the influential consumer magazine has granted it “Recommended Provider” status for the overall quality of its service.
The survey was compiled in September 2015 and is based on the independent feedback of Which? readers who’d flown with Aurigny last summer. They gave the airline maximum points and a five star rating for ease of boarding, seat comfort and legroom and customer service. It was highly rated and scored four stars for the cabin environment and the provision of in-flight food and drink. Its punctuality score was 80%. Both Aurigny and Aegean Airlines share joint second spot in the survey with an overall customer score of 76%, behind Norwegian’s 78%. Aurigny is noted as one of a very few airlines in the short haul/economy category to include a free hold luggage allowance (a generous 20 kg).
Aurigny’s CEO, Mark Darby, says: “This is a great way to start what we hope will be another successful year for Aurigny. In October 2015 we scooped silver at the ERAA Airline of Year awards which shows we have the respect of the European aviation industry. Now, a further Which? award, to add to those we’ve collected from that organisation in 2014 and 2015, demonstrates that our customers appreciate the Aurigny flying experience. I’m especially pleased to note that we are the only British airline in the top five, comfortably ahead of British Airways, EasyJet and Flybe.”
Malcolm Coupar, Aurigny’s Commercial Director, says: “The Which? Airline Survey is based on their readers’ objective assessment of some crucial customer satisfaction areas, notably the overall service we offer our passengers, the ease and speed of boarding our aircraft and cabin cleanliness and seat comfort. “Recommended Provider” status means that the people who completed the online survey were very satisfied with their Aurigny flight and prepared to recommend us to others. For a small airline, that’s a great accolade and it helps raise our profile in the UK and Europe amongst potential customers and the industry.”
