Could you be a Firefighter at Guernsey Airport?
1st April 2021Guernsey Airport is looking to recruit and appoint Firefighters to join the Airport Fire and Rescue Service.
In liaison with the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service (GFRS), selection tests for candidates who believe they have the necessary personal qualities, skills and attributes to commence a challenging and rewarding full time career as a Firefighter at Guernsey Airport will take place later in 2021.
As an Airport Firefighter, you will act as an integral part of both emergency response and community safety teams, working with and within the community to prevent emergencies occurring, minimising the impact when they do occur and intervening effectively when required, to the benefit of the community.
Guernsey Airport does have immediate firefighter vacancies currently. The selection process will also identify suitable candidates to fill vacancies that may occur in the next two years.
Airport firefighters must meet several standards and criteria during the application process which include:
- Must pass the written aptitude tests.
- Must pass the physical simulated and fitness tests.
- Must pass a full medical and eye test to 6/6, 6/6.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must be able to successfully perform a ladder reach test (n.b. this is not normally achieved by those under 1.65 metres in height).
Airport firefighters provide fire cover, rescue services and first aid, in accordance with national and international regulations. Airport Firefighters assist in carrying out a range of other operational, specialist and emergency duties within the perimeters of Guernsey Airport.
