The cream of Yorkshire County Cricket to come to Guernsey
14th April 2016To celebrate the launch of Aurigny’s new Leeds Bradford service, the airline has organised a unique fundraising dinner and cricket coaching session over the weekend of 4th and 5th June 2016 in Guernsey. Yorkshire County Cricket Club captain Andrew Gale will be accompanied by Yorkshire and England pace bowler Tim Bresnan and Yorkshire and England batsman Gary Ballance.
The three Yorkshire stars will arrive into Guernsey Airport at 1600 on 4th June and from there they’ll be taken to The Farmhouse Hotel, the venue for Andrew Gale’s Benefit Dinner. Tickets are available from the venue for £45 per person or £400 for a table of ten. Proceeds from the dinner and an auction of cricket memorabilia will be divided between island based charities the Guernsey Cricket Foundation and Male Uprising Guernsey and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Yorkshire Children’s Trust. In addition to helping raise money for these good causes, people attending the dinner will have a chance to question the three cricketers about their International and County experiences.
Mark Darby, the CEO of Aurigny says: “Our new route to Leeds Bradford airport is an exciting and important addition to Aurigny’s schedule of year round services. It connects Guernsey with the beautiful county of Yorkshire and areas further north. It demonstrates that Aurigny is committed to offering islanders a wide variety of destinations and I’m delighted that its launch has the support of Andrew Gale and Yorkshire CCC.”
On Sunday, the Yorkshire players will do their bit for grass roots Guernsey cricket by hosting a coaching session for some of the island’s National Squad and Development Programme youngsters at the KGV. The local players will also get the opportunity to quiz the three professionals about day to day life at the top of their sport, gaining an insight into a career that a local youngster might one day be able to follow.
Mark Latter, the CEO of the Guernsey Cricket Board says: “We are always keen to mix our budding cricket stars of the future with county and international stars of the game, so we are very grateful to Aurigny for this opportunity. The chance to train and chat with players that you see on the television and want to emulate is priceless, and is a real boost to all that GCB does on a day to day basis within its Development Programme. As cricket fans, we also look forward to being able to get up to Headingley and catch a match, using Aurigny’s new Leeds Bradford route.”
Media Invitation: The media are invited to meet and interview Andrew Gale, Tim Bresnan and Gary Ballance at the KGV on Sunday 5th June between 12.25pm and 12.40pm only, as their schedule is fairly restrictive.
Dinner: Tickets are available from The Farmhouse on 264181 or [email protected].
