Driving and Parking at the Airport Control Tower building
18th May 2017Guernsey Airport has noticed an increase in the number of Spotters and visitors driving into and parking around the Control Tower building, in staff spaces and on yellow ‘No Waiting’ lines or the cross-hatched ‘Keep Clear’ area.
This is a “Restricted area” and should not be entered. There is signage clearly displayed on the approach road warning drivers of the prohibited nature of this area.
It is important that this area remains clear as it is heavily trafficked as it forms part of the RVP (rendezvous point for emergency responders to Aviation incidents) and emergency access must be maintained at all times. Heavy goods vehicles also frequents the roadway regularly, making it a dangerous area for visitors.
The airport is reluctant to cordon this area off from the public, but would ask that all unnecessary visits are avoided. If members of the public wish to view aircraft parked on the west apron, they should park in the public car park at the terminal and use the turnstile – taking care to watch for vehicular traffic when crossing the roadway. As an alternative, the spotters car park at La Villiaze Road, Forest remains accessible.
Airport attendants and security patrols by our security provider will be recording details of vehicles entering this area without permission. Where clear breaches of the parking regulations are observed, Fixed Penalty Notice’s will be issued.
