Overnight Ground Work at Guernsey Airport
25th August 2016Guernsey Airport will be undertaking ground works overnight from Monday 29 August for up to 10 nights (excluding weekends).
The work is agricultural in nature and will realize ground improvements and reseeding of an area of ground adjacent to the runway. The works in this area are best undertaken at night to limit disruption to aircraft and whilst the ground conditions remain sufficiently warm for grass seed to establish before the winter.
The works are being undertaken after airport close and overnight and will have no operational impacts during normal airport hours. Arrangements are in place to accommodate any overnight medevac or air search movements.
Works are not being undertaken at weekends.
Nearby residents at the airport should suffer no significant disturbance and the vehicle movements have been limited to areas within the main body of the airport to avoid vehicles moving around the boundary.
The works are scheduled to take up to 10 nights, but could be completed earlier.
