Guernsey Air Rally A Sell Out Success
22nd June 2015Perfect flying conditions Friday enabled the arrival of all 60 aircraft entered for the 2015 Air Rally, bringing in over 130 people.
Rally Director, Gary Elson said, "Weather forecasts both here, in the UK and enroute can make or break this event, and on Friday we were lucky enough to have good weather everywhere. We had expected some cancellations, but everybody who was on the list for today has made it."
"Over 130 people arrived in these aircraft and they spent at least 2 nights each in the hotels of Guernsey and made good use of the local restaurants, cafes and shops. It was a bonus that the Harbour Carnival was on the Friday night, and we had warned people to book their restaurant tables early".
Over the weekend, the rallyists were treated to a welcome lunch at the Aero Club, a Vin D'Honneur reception (attended by Airport Director, Colin Le Ray) and a themed hangar party as well as various competitions and guided walks.
Gary went on to say, "The feedback we have had this year has been incredibly positive, whether from our German, Irish or Belgian visitors or the first time visitors from the UK. We hope that they will join the growing number of repeat attendees that we have due to the fantastic impression that they get of Guernsey."
"Finally I'd like to add that the event would not be possible without the hard work of the Aero Club membership and the support of our main sponsor ASG."
