Blue Islands cancels flights due to extreme weather conditions in the Channel Islands – 9 March 2016
9th March 2016Rob Veron, Blue Islands’ Managing Director:
As a result of the extreme and deteriorating weather conditions within the Channel Islands today (9 March 2016) Blue Islands have cancelled all of today’s remaining flights to and from Guernsey and Jersey. The States of Jersey Meteorological Department has issued a Red storm warning with forecasts of storm Force 10 with winds gusting to 70 Knots continuing. At the time of release, wind conditions are beyond the safely permissible operating conditions at both Islands’ airports. Furthermore, wind strength is forecast to increase over the next 12 hours.
Whilst this disruption is regrettable, passenger, crew and aircraft safety is our number one priority at all times. Affected customers can contact our Customer Care team for further information.
